News from Sep 21, 2017

The summer break has come to its end, the autumn leaves slowly cover Berlin and the excitement at the Center for Global Politics grows, because it is preparing for yet another though-provoking and exciting week of in-house classes. From 9th  to 13th of October 2017 about 100 students from the two online programs- International Relations Online and East European Studies will come together in order to not only take classes, that are focused on their field of studies, but also to share their academic and professional experience with each other. One of the most interesting venues that the Freie Universität zu Berlin has to offer, namely the Henry Ford Building, will provide the perfect environment for the in-house classes in October.

One of this year´s highlights is the visit to the German Foreign Office, where students will have the opportunity to meet the Head of the Ukraine Department. The latest novelty of the Center for Global Politics master programs, which we are very proud to announce, is the implementation of Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas is an open source learning management system from the US Company Instructure that replaces Blackboard as the LMS is used for the whole study program. It offers many exciting new features that will improve the learning experience. Our IT- specialist and technicians are currently developing manuals and training sessions for the new students, who start the programs.

The reason why the in-house classes are such an essential part of the Center for Global Politics master programs is firstly, because students meet their instructors in person and discuss academic issues, and secondly, because they exchange information, knowledge and experiences with peers coming from different social strata, cultural, academic and professional backgrounds.
