Klaus Segbers
Klaus Segbers studied history, Slavic languages, political science and philosophy at universities in Bochum and Konstanz and received his PhD for a study on the USSR during the Second World War from the University of Bremen.
He worked as research fellow at the University of Bremen, JWG-University Frankfurt/Main as well as the Foundation for Science and Politics (SWP) at Ebenhausen. In 1992 he qualified as university teacher with a book on systemic change in the Soviet Union. In 1994 he became head of the department for East European Politics and then director of research project on Post-Soviet Puzzles (spaces, territories, elites and interests in the FSU) at SWP. In 1995/96 he was professor for International Relations at the University of Konstanz.
Since 1996 he holds the Chair for Political Science at the Institute for East European Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin and is Professor for International Relations at the Otto Suhr Institut for Political Sciences (OSI). His particular area of interest in research and teaching is international relations, particularly international political economy and globalization as well as the analysis of post-Soviet spaces.
