Instructor

James McDonald

James McDonald is currently a researcher and lecturer in the department of Intercultural Business Communication at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena Germany. He received his PhD in Intercultural Communication from that university in 2008 and has been teaching both online courses and traditional seminars there since 2002.

Born in Ohio in the United States, Dr. McDonald moved often and eventually received both his BA (German and Russian Languages / Philosophy) and his Master’s degree (German and Russian with an emphasis on communication and translation) from Florida State University in Tallahassee. After receiving a one-year Bosch Fellowship to teach and study in Weimar in 1998, he returned to Florida, finished his Master’s degree and returned to central Germany.
