Ulrich Brückner
In his dissertation (PhD 1996) he explored the role of the European Commission in the EU policy-making process.
From 1994 to 2002 he held the Jean Monnet Chair for European Integration in the Department for Political Science, and initiated several cooperative projects with public and private partners as well as with other Jean Monnet chairs.
He also managed several EU projects on the political economy of European integration, on cultural policy and on youth policy.
Students from Germany, the United States, Poland, and other European countries have the opportunity to meet in Ulrich Brückner's various seminars.
In 1997 he was Jean Monnet visiting professor at Szczecin University in Poland, and visiting professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wierzba (2000). Together with Michael Bolle he applied successfully for a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in 1998. Since 1999 he is been visiting professor at Stanford University Berlin and at Szczecin University, where he also organizes weekend seminars on the European Union, including the challenges and promises of EU expansion.
In May and June 2002 Professor Brückner was invited as visiting professor of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing and ECNU in Shanghai.
In spring 2003 he worked in Palo Alto (CA) as a visiting professor at Stanford University.
Ulrich Brückner is member of TEAM Europe, a service of experts for the European Union. Other professional commitments include: instructor for IES at the Humboldt University Berlin and Freie Universität International Summeruniversity (FUBiS), as well as for post-graduate programs on European Studies in cooperation with the German Foreign Office or the University for Applied Studies in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde.
Ulrich Brückner's publications deal with current developments of EU policy-making.
